Council for Green Revolution (CGR) with the active collaboration of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) started the prestigious Plantation Program in Gummadidduru Buddhist Archaeological site (Penuganchiprolu mandal, Krishna District) with inauguration being held on 4th Aug, 2018. The inaugural was attended by guests, Shri. Sriram Rajgopal (Thathaiah), Member of Legislative assembly of Jaggaiahpet, Shri. Nettem Raghuram, former-minister Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.
The guests kick-started the massive drive to increase the green cover of the region by planting the saplings and scattering the seed balls. The 1st phase of the project is planned with scattering one lakh and fifty thousand seed balls and planting of two thousand saplings.
Council for Green Revolution was represented by its President Smt. K. Leela Reddy, Founder Shri. K. Laxma Reddy, Gummadidduru Project Manager Shri Cherukuri Nagesh, Shri. Lenin and Shri. M. Pawan Kumar. Shri. Surya Prakash and Shri. Murthy from Archaeological Survey of India attended the event and gave all the required support.
The event was convened by Shri. Aarla Rambabu in the presence of guests and students from different schools and colleges. Also villagers from nearby panchayats attended the event.
Special guests at the event were Shri. Ponduru Madhu, Shri. Joseph, MPP Jyothi and others. Overall 700 persons attended including students.
As part of Swacha Patashala-Harita Patasala programme, on 8th August 2018, C. Umamaheswar Reddy, Environmental Specialist participated in TSAT live that reaches all the schools in Telangana. Others on the live relay were Sri PK Jha, PCCF, Telangana, Dr. Tirupataiah, IFS, Director, Forest Academy, Sri Raghuveer, IFS and Smt. Radhika, NGC
