Green Mission Programmes

Vanachaitanya Yatra

Vanachaitanya Yatras are a series of short period, time-bound intensive plantation drives that are taken up by CGR as part of its Vanaprerana Udyamams. These are largely carried out in the monsoon season every year. Since 2011, CGR has been organizing several such plantation programmes. Some of them are Manjira Vanachaitanya Yatra in Medak, Palamuru Vanachaitanya Yatra in Mahabubnagar, and Krishna Vanachaitanya Yatra in Krishna district. Other than planting saplings in huge numbers, the mission programme also contributed to the mass sensitization of school children, youth and villagers.

Bangaru Telanganaku Balala Haritaharam

During 2015 & 2016, CGR was a partner in the prestigious Harithaharam programme of the Telangana State Government. CGR facilitated the programme through school children in Nizamabad, Warangal and Medak districts. A total of 9,26,480 saplings were planted by involving 4,26,316 government high school children from 1,788 high schools from the above districts.

Kalam Smruthivanam

With an aim to create lush green, serene school premises, CGR facilitated planting trees in government high schools through the Kalam Smruthivanam programme. The programme was taken up in 52 schools in Warangal, Mahabubabad and Jangaon districts. Through the programme, 5000 mature and tall (up to 12 ft.) saplings belonging to 13 species were planted to ensure optimum survival.

Kasturi Balikavanam

With an aim to contribute to the nutritional, health, ecological needs and overall well being of the girl students, the Balikavanam programme was developed by CGR. It is a composite planting of fruit bearing, medicinal, aesthetic, shady tree species. CGR facilitated the programme in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV), Wanaparthy district during 17th August – 2 September 2017. Through the programme, 2,787 saplings were planted in 9 KGBVs and 3 TS Model Schools of seven mandals involving 2,175 students. The programme was also implemented in three TS Model School Girls hostels. Vegetable seeds for kitchen garden, compost, and implements for the maintenance of the Balikavanam were also provided.
